Central Texas Science Team

Empowering high school students to conduct real world original research

In conjunction with Seeds of Change, we are filling spots in our 2025 Tropical Rainforest Research Program.

This is the ONLY field research of its KIND offered in the U.S.

Here is why this is so valuable for high school students:

This is a RARE opportunity that allows them to gain field research experience.

  1. One of the only experiences that they can do is ORIGINAL summer research.

    1. Allows for KEY distinctions on their transcript to give them an edge.

  2. They experience HANDS-ON field research at the Costa Rican Rainforest.

  3. Learn to apply the scientific method with fellow students and mentored by world-renowned scientists.

What you can expect for our 2025 trip

Trip Timeline:

  • June 21st to June 30th 2025

  • 10 SPOTS LEFT!

The TWO areas of Field Research covered:

  • The first 7 days in the rainforest, conducting field research on leaf-cutter ants!

  • The last 2 days are on the coast doing marine biology research at a sea turtle hatchery!

    • Students are on NESTING PATROLS with local marine conservation leaders!

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS!

Students also leave with the following!

  • Letter of Recommendation from Dr. Adrian Pinto, PhD Microbiology

  • Option for 3 College Credits in Ecology!

  • 45 PE hours toward a semester credit, SUPER HELPFUL!

We know just how amazing of an opportunity this is and have been doing this since 2016 with our own children!

Change Makers and Community Builders

In our immersion field research program, students are creating original science research on real world problems, while improving the sustainability of a small remote Costa Rican rainforest village.

Very few summer research opportunities for high school students are original research. Our Rainforest Summer Research Program is original research and that makes it even more valuable on the student's transcript.

 Tropical Field Research

Link Student Research to Critical Issues Facing Our Global Community

Students are immersed in a hands-on field research program that takes advantage of the immense biodiversity of the tropical rainforest. They learn how to apply the scientific method while collaborating with team members to establish their original research question as well as the experimental design for their project. They use statistics to validate the results of their experiments and present their results to their peers and scientists .
